Providing a safe space; supportive and non-judgmental help.
If you are finding life hard you may be feeling anxious, uncertain, empty, unhappy and be having relationship issues. It can be difficult to take the first steps to do something about it, but being able to talk in confidence to someone accepting, supportive and non-judgemental, who is outside your situation, who can offer a different perspective can be of great help.
Dan Best, Counsellor - FdSc, MBACP.
I am a qualified, registered BACP counsellor working in private practice and the charity sector in Surbiton (KT6), Southwest London, and Surrey. I can work in a variety ways; together, we find a way, therapeutically, that suits your needs. I have broad experience working with many different emotional and relational difficulties. Please see list below.
What to expect
My Experience
Working collaboratively we find a way that suits your specific needs. This can be solution focused or exploring some of life’s deeper difficulties. I have experience with:
stress, work-related stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, anger management, family difficulties, child related issues, internet addiction, trauma, abuse, bereavement, loss, addiction(s), social anxieties, loneliness, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, affairs and betrayals, gender dysphoria, sexuality, generalised anxiety disorder, life transitions, physical abuse, emotional abuse, low self-confidence, medical conditions, childhood trauma, loss/crisis of faith, group work, economic difficulties, class and culture difference.
My Approach
I provide you the opportunity, through listening deeply and openly (without judgment), for you to be heard; to talk through and express and explore your genuine sense of self.
I can help you gain new insights; encouraging self-acceptance, self-confidence, resilience, relational health and authentic living; by providing a safe, warm and accepting environment to support you as you identify and explore your difficulties. This may be about a specific issue or you may wish to address a wider whole-life transformation. I believe that despite what can sometimes feel like difficult, overwhelming and stressful circumstances, you already possess the capacity and resources within you to experience the changes you desire.
My Practice
I am a qualified counsellor and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As a registered member I adhere to its Ethical Framework for the counselling professions.
I am currently offering sessions remotely by video call or telephone.
We will normally meet on a regular weekly basis, for 50 minutes each session. At first we work to a six week agreement then, together, review the counselling process and decide about ongoing sessions.
We will start with a phone conversation to make arrangements then have an initial session before beginning therapy together.
My fees are £70 per session, I have some concessions available, please get in contact to discuss further.
